I hate 16:10 on laptops and tablets so much. The majority of what I do on those devices is watch video and I hate black bars. Web browsing is not so much better on 16:10 that its worth sacrificing the video.

I never switched unless games are forced me to use it as they were made without option to play with arrows.

We had at one time a 27" Panasonic CRT that weighed more than our 60" flat screen that we have now.

It's really a good game overall. But the only thing I wish they didn't went with are modern controls, modern character motor. Heretic and Hexen had very oily, very fluent movement (character motor). In Graven, it's very, very stiff, like in all modern game. I don't know why they went this route, when all they wanted is to do retro rpg....well this is what's missing.

I think this should come with an OLED screen to better reproduce the look of old CRTs.

Back the CRTs was & still is provide the best viewing experience. A stable framerate, uniformity in resolution. Call me Ancient but, CRT TVs is a must anticipated comeback for peole like us who sworn the Legacy.

Why waste money on a windows license just for an experiment when you can run Windows for a month without a license? Also, Windows 10 is not a descendent of NT, it *is* NT - NT 7.x, only Microsoft has removed the "NT" from the version number in the recent iterations even though previous versions included it. Windows 2000 will happily tell you that it is NT 5 and 5.1 depending on revision, while XP says 5.2. If you dig deep enough in Vista and Windows 7 they'll tell you that they're NT 6, but with Windows 8 and onward MS only gives you a build number, probably because they've messed up the numbering so much that they can't keep track of what they got to themselves anymore Also for the sake of things: NTVDM is the NT Virtual DOS Machine. Virtual being the keyword here, since it emulates DOS mode. I still can not believe that people do not understand why some movies have black bars. The wide screen is just that, whether 2.35, 2.45, or any variation. It is a wide aspect ratio. If you watch a wide aspect ratio on 4:3 (1.33), you'll have bars. No bars are pan and scan, meaning you are losing some of the image left to right. A film that is shot anamorphic uses a lens that squeezes an image onto the film, so when projected onto a screen, it shows the full 2.35 or higher aspect ratio. In a Vista vision camera, the film goes through the camera horizontal. This means 2 full frames of 35mm film stock recording of the image as opposed to one. They still used this camera for sfx shots in some films since it captured the image with higher quality. All the fire ball shots in xman 2 used Vista vision( I worked on the 2nd unit that shot these).

We switched because we wanted to watch movies in their native format. There you go, question answered

It's not a mystery. I wanted wide format ever since I saw unaltered movies and saw exactly what I was missing off screen of the "formated to fit your TV" adaptations. I'm sure lots of others did too, and eventually the industry made what was in demand.

For most home movie releases, studios did not use the black bars. They usually just chopped off the sides. This often changed the artistic intent of a scene and created a different, worse experience. This is because black bars confused and angered the masses, infuriated that space on their expensive TV was being "wasted".

30 years ahead and it looks like good old NES with a proper mapper and tool (hello MXM-1 chip!) was capable of everything that SNES+SegaMegaCD been offering 😎

On PC we went from black horizontal lines while watching a movie to black vertical lines while playing older games. What a progress. It was especially bad around the time 16:10/9 was not common and many older games either had fixed resolution or they were only in 4:3. Even if you could set it the UI was not prepared for it and stretched wide or everyhting scaled up or down so you could read tiny text. It's muuch easier now.
